A flat, tree-lined course making for easy walking, but don't expect the golf to be easy. Sections of the course have been recently extended and it provides a true test of golf with small, subtle Dr Mackenzie designed greens. Water and ditches come into play on several holes while the rough is well maintained to punish any wayward shots. Large scale drainage work has recently been carried out to extend the playing season and improve the overall condition of the course. A course that has matured and improved significantly over recent years.
"Having spent several years in my youth within a few miles of Grange - over - Sands Golf Club, I have seen the course develop from a 'green field' site into the well wooded course that you see today... The course in spite of being flat is not a push over and presents many interesting and varied shots to quite small greens. The short holes are particularly good. The rough can be quite punishing and straight driving is required to score well. I can thoroughly recommend Grange - over - Sands Golf Club as a must for visitors to South Cumbria" - Gary Wolstenholme - British Amateur Champion 1991 & 2003
